Entry 10: Making Presentations. What I learned about making effective presentations.

 I fond of computers very much and especially I like making presentations. When I studied at the lyceum I made a lot of presentations there. My diploma work also had this kind of creating reports. However, I didn’t know how to make great presentation. During the last lesson of Computer Skills I learnt how to make my reports more interesting. Our teacher told us that we should have clear information about subject and do not use a lot of colors. Actually I agree with her, because I think, if there are a lot of colors in your presentation, it will be too bright and it will be difficult to understand words written there. Our presentation should include understandable font, different pictures, but only connected with context, and of course we shouldn’t have any mistakes in our presentations. With the help of items, given over, I made a great and interesting report. I think this paragraph  will help you to make great presentation

Entry 9: Time management problems

It is XXI century, and our life became very hectic. We do not have enough time for doing some work, and very often we wonder: “Why I don’t have any time?” We also can say that we don’t know how to use our time correctly. Especially if you are a student you have no time for some subjects. If you want not to have problems with your lessons, remember one thing: every time try to create your timeline or calendar. It is very comfortable to use it. You will know what
you need to do today or tomorrow; you will free your time for your rest. For example, I make such time management calendar every day, and it helps me so much!

Entry 8: American Civil War by One Slave owner.

The Civil War broke in 1891  and lasted till 1965. This War was the most cruel in America, because it took the great amount of lifes from the both sides. The North(Union) wanted to free slaves, but the South(Somfederates) were against them. The South wonn many battles, but the War was won by the North. The main reason of it was that army, capital, equipment of htem were better than of South. Making this task i felt myself as if I was in the centre of this War. I like history very much, and I liked this task too. But there were too much information about everything. Also, there were a lot of additional information about people and events.

Entry 7: Note taking experience

It is very important to know how to take notes correctly. You can write some information about something in you notebook and after this you wouldn’t be able to recall even simple information. When you take notes, remember that you should understand the main idea of the lecture and try to ask questions to it. I always take notes to my lectures and review it later. I do not write all the information, but key dates and words. It is very important to listen the conclusion of the lecture, because you will hear necessary information there and can write down the things than you missed during the lesson. I advise you to write your notes every time.

Entry 6: Advantages and disadvantages of tape recorder.

On the lesson of Study Skills we learnt how to take notes during the lecture. We found that we can use tape recorder as help to our taking notes. I think that using tape recorder is useful in one hand, but in other one it is not comfortable. When you take notes, you try to understand the main idea of lecture. You receive information through eye contact, teacher’s gestures and body language. If teacher allows you to use tape recorder you can do this. It is useful when you can look through lecture again after the lesson. You can remember all things in details. But if you didn’t listen to the lecture you won’t be able to recall many useful things. I think that you should listen to the teacher during the lecture and do not rely on your recorder. It is better to listen to the real person, but not to the recorder

Entry 5: My Goals and Objectives

Everybody has different wishes and dreams. But sometimes they are not achievable and realistic. We cannot call them “goals”, because we try to obtain our dream and make it true. Man always set one goal and obtain it by reaching small objectives. I have my own goal too, because I want to get something in my life. My goal consists of several parts. I want to become a professional interpreter in five years, but to be it I should graduate University with good marks in four years and train a lot by myself. After one year of training I will be able to find the job of my dream)

 

Entry 4: My Study Habits and Learning Style

Each person in his life learns something new. He can do it by hearing about it, seeing it or doing it. Many people learn and study by many ways but they don’t know what style of learning is better for them to use. There are a lot of tests and questioners to found out what learning style do person have. But no one can be only learner of one specific style. He can be both auditorial and kinesthetic learner, or he can prefer visual learning to aural, but be kinesthetic. We cannot learn something only by one style. I have two prioritized styles too. I learn things through my ears. I can say that I’m auditorial learner. I perceive things better when I hear about them. But I’m also visual learner, because I always remember appearance of different things. When I learn new words, I try to remember how to pronounce them and how they are written. I imagine this thing and sometimes I try to spell it for better remembering. It helps me to understand it grammatically and lexically. Every time I write words on the sheet of paper and put it on the visible place. When I do something I see these words and easily can remember them.

Entry 2: Debate on Mouse vs. Touch Screen

We all live in XXI century. It is the century of space technologies and progress. Today almost everyone has computer in his house. But progress is not standing on one place, that’s why technology is modernizes. Someone has touch screen computer, but most of people has computer with mouse. I also have computer at home and it is with mouse. Nowadays people divided into two groups. One says that touch screen is better and other say that mouse is. But I think that both TS and Mouse have their advantages and disadvantages. I think that TS is better for designing, for work that needs creativity. E. g. try to draw something with Mouse, it’s very difficult and painting will be not so beautiful as if you were drawing on TS. It is easier to navigate and control your work with TS. But Mouse is better to use when you play computer games. When you need to highlight an object, it is better for you to use Mouse. But everyone has his own opinion about Mouse and TS, so people use those things, what they comfortable to work with.

 

Entry 1: My first impression and expectations

What is IELTE? Many people don’t even know about it. IELTE is a great program that gives you much knowledge of English. If you study here you have an opportunity to receive a great experience in English, you can learn more about language. I didn’t know that I would enter this program because I thought that it was impossible to do it. I was so happy to know that I became an IELTE student! Two months passed and during this time we learnt a lot about language, learning styles and process, and our speech became better. Here I met a lot of good students. We all became friends. As IELTE program is not individual studying, we all work together. We share our opinions. Have a lot of debates and spend great time during our education process. We all expect that this program will give us necessary skills that we need in future. We will be able to use our knowledge in our work.
